I’m really proud of the work I put in as a Co-Organizer for Get Hired (Tech and Healthcare). To give some context as to why along with the scale of what the leadership team has built, check out the latest message to our membership…

Hi everyone,

We’ve got so much exciting activity going on right now. Before going into detail, a question.

How is your career search going?

Keep pushing. Fill out those applications. Go to that networking event. Meet just one more person.  And, c’mon out to Get Hired (Tech and Healthcare) events…! Let’s get into the update, shall we?

EVENTS (chronologically ordered)

GetCoffee

We’ve begun weekly GetCoffee meetups that will alternate each week between the Vancouver and Portland locations of Presso Coffee. The next gathering will be Tuesday, October 8 in Vancouver. We’ve had some excellent information exchanges to support one another and conversations about what’s happening locally. Check it out!

West-Portland

On Wednesday, October 9 we will welcome Asset Protection Partnership IT Manager, Erik Blanchard. He’s got a tremendous background and skill set. During the lunch hour, we’ll return to the University of Portland’s west campus. What a great space. If you haven’t been, definitely make a plan to experience a talk there. Here’s that address again: 15220 NW Laidlaw Road, Suite 230, Portland MD 97229.

Tech Vancouver @ Tandem Hall

Monday, October 14 will feature Molly Lange of Soldera Properties. Her background as a Television News Field Reporter, and her current career as a Real Estate Broker will combine for a practical talk on networking and interpersonal communication.

From there we will host local Programmer, Daryl Behrens, on Monday, October 28 for an interesting perspective on the discipline and his fascinating career history.

Healthcare @ The Community Room at Columbia Bank Vancouver Downtown

Just before Halloween we will have a treat (get it? Trick or treat? Eh hem, moving on…) when we host Talent Acquisition professionals from Banfield Pet Hospital, Heather Mitchell and Brier Gabriel on Wednesday, October 30 in downtown Vancouver. The space is awesome and we’ve had two special Healthcare events in August and September. This one promises to be another great one!

NEWSWORTHY

• There will be no event on Monday, November 11 as it is Veteran’s Day (holiday).
• The leadership team is strongly considering a move towards becoming a nonprofit.
• Our training component is beginning to take shape. Slowly but surely, folks!
• We updated the group description on our page.
